UCP has a long association with scouting. We sponsor Boy Scout Troop 1970 and Cub Scout Pack 340. Our staff regularly assists with the God and Country program, and we are honored to be part of special events, such as the recognition of Eagle Scouts.
Boy Scout Troop 1970
Boy Scout Troop 1970 meets at UCP every Monday night at 7:30p. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Since its founding in 1965, Troop 1970 has been “Keeping the Tradition.” The troop takes pride in offering a traditional scouting program, whose key features are:
- adherence to the patrol method by the scouts
- participation in a minimum of one outing per month
- participation in an extended period of camping each year (summer camp), and
- service to the community.
These are the primary focus items by which the scouts of Troop 1970 learn and advance. None of these activities can occur without active participation by the scouts and their families. Many UCP members are active and many children have advanced through the troop.
For more information about the troop, please see the Troop 1970 web site or contact Scoutmaster Bob Leseman via email.
