The United Christian Parish is a special place to experience God in your life. The continuing gifts of time, talent and treasure from our members and friends support our whole ministry and our witness to our community, nation and the world.
Over the past year these gifts have helped us serve God in many ways. Most visibly they provide the resources needed to support a vibrant worship program and they have made possible the exciting new construction program now underway. But they do much more. For instance, they support an active program of Christian Education and faith formation for our children and youth. On an average Sunday over 24 children participate in our Bible Explorers Sunday School classes. More than 25 young people participate in our Youth Group and on Confirmation Sunday we welcomed eight young people to membership in the United Christian Parish. More than 100 children attended Vacation Bible School and over 130 children participate in our UCP Preschool. UCP’s education program also serves adults through a variety of classes and small groups.
We reach out to each other through programs such as the Prayer Chain, the Caring Network/ Shepherds program and the Congregational Life Ministry. Equally important we offer support for each other through our ministerial staff and individually through hospital visits, meals, consolation in time of crisis and prayerful listening to joys and concerns.
Our Witness Ministry warmly welcomes visitors to our congregation and we reach out to our community through endless hours devoted to numerous volunteer programs such as Works Sunday, FISH, Reston Interfaith, the Emergency Homeless Shelter, the Closet and many many others. We provide generous financial support to a variety of local, national and international charities through a portion of our pledges, the Thanksgiving and One Great Hour of Sharing Offerings and through individual gifts. We also contribute regularly to the work of our four denominations.
