Opportunities to Make Music
We love music at UCP! It is an important element of all our worship services. Because we have people who enjoy a wide variety of music, we include many different types and styles, varying with the seasons and liturgical year, as well as the theme of a service. We vary the style, tempo and groups participating in services each week to provide a wide variety of musical enhancements to our worship experience. Some services have an organ, while others use the piano. Some services have both!
We sing in every service because it helps to bind us together spiritually. Leveraging our ecumenical background, we use hymnals from each of our four denominations! We rotate the hymnals so that each hymnal is used in every season of the year. In addition to traditional hymns, we sing music from a broad cultural background, to explore and celebrate all aspects of who we are and our global community.
We have a wide variety of musical programs for all ages to enjoy. We have the Seraphim Choir, the Genesis Choir for young singers, the UCPraise band, Total Praise dancers and handbell ringers. Each group welcomes new members, regardless of skills level, to enable everyone to share their talent and celebrate the good news musically!
We actively support small groups and soloists who wish to contribute to worship as well. UCP has a history of nurturing musical talent wherever and however it manifests itself. In fact, in the past decade a number of our members have composed and performed original musical pieces during services and in concerts.
