Justice Mobilization Taskforce
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
UCP will deserve to be known as The Justice, not Just-Us, Church in Reston. Through worship, Christian education, new member orientation, witness, missions, etc. – all our members will see their faith as a “Just Faith,” and the whole church will be enlisted in advocacy for the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized.
Working closely with UCP’s four denominations, the Justice Mobilization Task Force (JMT) serves as a clearinghouse for our church’s advocacy on issues from economic justice and human rights to environmental concerns. It provides information, training and action opportunities – building community partnerships to work with and empower disadvantaged members of society.
The JMT has sponsored a wide variety of public forums and identified events on social justice issues, educated many in the Congregation though the Just Faith curriculum, and serves as a clearinghouse of information about social justice activities sponsored by our denominations and other entities.
