Kitchen Renovation

We are campaigning for donations to renovate our kitchen. Learn more about how and why to give below.

Why do we need a kitchen renovation?

To continue and expand our mission to create opportunities for all people in the community to experience the amazing grace and love of God, whom we know through Christ.

What is the kitchen currently used for?

  • Local Outreach: The kitchen is an important part of our local outreach. Meals for residents at local homeless and hypothermia shelters all come from our kitchen. The kitchen is also vital to our children's outreach. Food for Lake Anne Elementary School children who are part of our Homework Club enjoy the food prepared in the kitchen. UCP Preschool also uses the kitchen to provide nutritious meals for the preschoolers.

  • Church Events: From Chili Cook-offs to memorial service receptions to Lenten soup dinners, the kitchen is an important part of supporting church-wide events.

What's wrong with our current kitchen?

  • Outdated and inefficient appliances

  • Inadequate and rusted drawers

  • Damaged and cracked doors

  • Parts are barely functioning

  • The floor is cement and it's uncomfortable to stand for long periods of time

  • Impractical layout

What more could we be doing once our space is renovated?

  • We can minimize the use of paper and plastic serving ware with more efficient appliances

  • More parishioners can work together to prepare meals

  • We can market our kitchen space to renters and the community

  • We can create a safer kitchen space and one that is more handicapped accessible

  • Increased storage will allow us to purchase food in bulk and on sale

  • Updated appliances will allow for quicker cooking and cleaning, and more functionality overall
